User Friendly Design

Waterproof, breathable material easily slides over a cast or bandage, and adjustable Velcro straps cinch easily at the narrowest part of the leg for a secure fit. Upper drawstring closure keeps the boot in place and prevents urine or rain from getting in through the top.

Even slushy and slippery areas were doable

Our dog broke a bone in his paw and has to have his leg in a splint for six weeks. With the snow and being a furry dog, he wanted to still lie in the snow, and this boot allowed him to get out in the snow! Even slush and slightly slippery areas were doable. Our vet said his splint is in great condition and they usually have to re-wrap it at the 2 and 4 week mark, but his is so good it didn’t need rewrapping! All because of the boot!

Bonus: Traction on smooth surfaces during office visits

This boot was absolutely amazing during our dog's surgical recovery. It has kept his cast clean and dry, and made walks in the rain and snow less stressful. A bonus is the traction it provides when he has to be on smooth surfaces during office visits. Worth every penny and then some. It does run big. He is a small Doberman, 70lbs, and the size M fit his rear leg cast perfectly.

Yes. Many young or high-energy patients benefit from the Rugged-x boot for protecting soft bandages. Please measure carefully with the soft bandage in place to ensure a secure fit.

Yes! The Medipaw Rugged Boot is universal and can be used on either the front or hind legs. The adjustable Velcro straps and upper drawstring allow you to cinch the boot securely, regardless of which leg is injured. For pets with significantly different-sized front and back paws, we recommend measuring both to see if two different sizes are needed.

No. The boot is waterproof for puddles, rain, snow, dew, and sprinklers but not for submersion in bodies of water.

The boot is secured with Velcro® straps and an upper drawstring. The inside has a polyurethane coating that adheres well to bandaging material.

To ensure a proper fit, it is crucial to measure your pet’s paw after the bandage, cast, or splint has been applied.

  • How to measure: Place the bandaged paw on a piece of paper and mark the widest points on either side. Measure the distance between those marks and compare it to our size chart.
  • Pro Tip: If your measurement falls between two sizes, we recommend sizing up to accommodate the extra bulk of the medical dressing without restricting circulation.

The Rugged Boot is designed for easy maintenance after messy outdoor walks. You can machine wash it on a gentle cycle with cool water.

  • Important: Always hang to dry. Never put the boot in the dryer, as high heat can damage the waterproof seam tape and the internal polyurethane coating.
